ARDEX FSDD

ARDEX FS-DD is a non-sanded, cement-based wall and floor grouting compound designed for fine tile joints up to 4mm wide. It provides a smooth finish with improved colour consistency and reduced risk of efflorescence, making it suitable for both residential and commercial tiling projects.

Its water-repellent and dirt-resistant properties make it ideal for wet areas such as showers, while ARDEX Grout Shield technology helps protect against mould, fungal and algal growth. The hardened grout is easy to clean and helps maintain its appearance over time.

ARDEX FS-DD is especially suitable for surfaces prone to scratching, such as porcelain tiles, because it is a fine, non-sanded grout. It can be used internally and externally, and may also be used for timber floors and swimming pools when mixed with ARDEX Grout Booster according to ARDEX instructions.

Application Notes

Ensure tile joints are clean and free from dust, excess adhesive and bedding mortar before grouting. Do not grout until the tile adhesive has set firmly. All spacers must be removed from the joints.

Add ARDEX FS-DD powder to clean water in a clean container and mix thoroughly until a smooth, lump-free, creamy paste is achieved. Work the grout into the joints using a rubber trowel, ensuring the joints are fully compacted and filled.

Allow the grout to firm in the joint before cleaning. Wipe the tile surface using a damp dense sponge, working diagonally across the joints. Use minimal water during clean-up to reduce the risk of shade variation, efflorescence or shrinkage.

For textured, matt, porous or sensitive tile surfaces, test cleaning and staining before full application.

Mixing Ratio

• 5kg bag: mix with 1.5L clean water

For swimming pools and timber floors, use ARDEX Grout Booster diluted with water according to ARDEX instructions.

Drying & Curing

• Pot life: approximately 1 hour at 23°C and 50% RH
• Initial set / light traffic: after approximately 5 hours
• Heavy traffic: after approximately 24 hours
• Full cure: approximately 7 days

Drying times may be extended by dense tiles, low temperatures or high humidity.

Coverage

Coverage varies depending on tile size, joint width, joint depth, application method and site conditions. Allow an additional 15–20% for wastage.

As a guide:

• 300 x 300 x 5mm tile, 3mm joint: approx. 0.3kg/m²
• 600 x 600 x 5mm tile, 3mm joint: approx. 0.2kg/m²
• 100 x 100 x 5mm tile, 3mm joint: approx. 0.6kg/m²
